Saturday KBO Game Highlights (2014/03/15)

Nexen 1 - NC 3, Masan [Box Score]

Nexen scored their first and only run in the top of the 1st inning when lead off batter Seo Geon-Chang stole third and was on a Yoon Suk-Min sacrifice fly. NC was also offensively challenged until the bottom of the 8th, when Kim Seong-Wook hit a 2 rbi double and was subsequently knocked in by a Mo Chang-Min sacrifice fly. Nexen rookie Lim Byeong-Wook didn't get on the scoreboard, but he showed off his speed again by stealing two bases even though he only entered the game in the 6th. Reliever Park Myung-Hwan got the win on one inning pitched, allowing no hits and walking one.

Doosan 6 - Kia 4, Gwangju [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

The Bear's offense really came out swinging today at the first ever game in Champion's Field. With a total of 14 hits, they controlled the game even though the box score shows some back and forth. Doosan crossed the plate first in the top of the 3rd when Hur Kyoung-Min laid down a textbook sacrifice bunt to put Kim Jae-Hwan in scoring position where a single by Jung Soo-Bin knocked him in. Hur Kyoung-Min also hit two doubles, one in the 5th (RBI) and again in the 7th. The Tigers tied the game at 2 when third-baseman Lee Bum-Ho hit a two RBI single. Doosan regained the lead when catcher Kim Jae-Hwan hit a two run blast in the 7th but the Tiger's came right back in the 8th after Kim Da-Won reached first on a dropped third strike and Na Ji-Wan hit a two run home run. Doosan took the lead for the final time the next inning when Jung Soo-Bin dropped an excellent bunt advancing two baserunners so that they could score off a Yang Yui-Ji double. Doosan's Lee Hyun-Seung got the win even though he gave up a two run homerun in only one inning pitched.

Lotte 3 - Samsung 6, Daegu [Box Score]

Samsung bats were hot early, scoring four runs in the top of the 1st, capped off with a two RBI single by left-fielder Lee Sang-Hun. Lotte struck back in the 5th with three runs on four consecutive hits, including another two RBI single, this time by pinch hitter Choi Jun-Seok. Samsung cemented their lead with runs in the bottom of the 6th and 7th, including a sacrifice fly by Yamaico Navarro. Samsung starter Kim Hui-Keol earned the W with three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and walking one, a big improvement over the shellacking he took in his last outing.

LG 4 - Hanhwa 3, Daejeon [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

The Twins capitalized on two walks in the top of the 2nd by getting a runner home on a sacrifice fly by catcher Cho Yoon-Jun. Hanhwa tied it up in the 5th with Jung Hyun-Seok going yard. LG regained the lead in the 6th with a two RBI double by first-baseman Lee Byeong-Kyu. A Felix Pie single in the bottom of the 6th scored another run for Hanhwa, but it wasn't meant to be and the Eagles never managed to take the lead. Both squads scored solitary runs in the 9th with Twins pinch hitter Jeong Ui-Yoon notably going long. Twins reliever Shin Jae-Woong chalked up the win even though he gave up a home run in just a single inning pitched.
