Nexen 11 - LG 2, Seoul (Mokdong) [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

Nexen blew out the Twins today, securing the sweep of the weekend series. Nexen first baseman Park Byung-Ho went 3 for 3 with a homerun, 2 singles, a sacrifice fly, and 4 RBIs. The homerun was his 16th of the season, which places him in a 3-way tie for the league homerun lead with teammate Lee Seong-Yeol and SK third baseman Choi Jeong. LG starting pitcher Ben Jukich took his 6th loss of the season after allowing 8 runs off of 11 hits in 5 innings. 8 earned runs is Jukich's highest total in his KBO career. His season ERA now stands at 5.70. Kang Yoon-Koo picked up the easy win for Nexen with a lot of help from the offense.

Doosan's Garret Olson leaves the game in the top of the 3rd.
It was a rough day for foreign pitchers in the KBO

Samsung 8 - Doosan 2, Seoul (Jamsil) [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

This game wasn't very close either. Doosan briefly held a 1-run lead early on, up 2-1 in the 2nd inning, but Samsung scored a big 5 runs in the top of the 3rd that would put them ahead for good.  First baseman Chae Tae-In lead the way for the Lions going 4 for 5 with 3 RBIs. Starting pitcher Jang Won-Sam earned the win after allowing 7 hits and 2 runs in 6 innings. Doosan starter Garret Olson would only last 2 1/3 innings, earning himself the loss. The Bears put a total of 8 pitchers on the mound today, none of them having much success. With the win Samsung avoids the series sweep and remains 1.5 games ahead of Nexen for first place in the league standings.
