Sunday KBO Game Highlights (2013/08/18)

SK 9 - Doosan 0, Seoul (Jamsil) [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

SK put the hurt on Doosan tonight. The Wyverns put 9 runs on the board while holding Doosan to just 3 hits. SK first baseman Park Jung-Kwon went 3 for 5 and third baseman Choi Jeong finished 2 for 5 including a 2-run homerun in the top of the 4th. SK starting pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes earned the win after allowing just 2 hits in 6 2/3 innings. The loss went to Doosan starter Lee Jae-Woo. SK continues their hot streak, having only lost 2 out of their last 10 games. The Wyverns are only 4.5 games behind Nexen for the final playoff position.

Nexen 5 - Samsung 4, Pohang [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

Nexen scored 4 runs in the top of the 3rd and added 1 more in the top of the 4th on a solo homerun by center fielder Yoo Han-Joon to give the Heroes an early 5-1 lead. Samsung's Park Seok-Min hit a 2-run homerun in the bottom half of the 4th to bring the score to 5-3. The score would remain until the bottom of the 9th when Samsung left fielder Bae Yeong-Seop hit an RBI single to bring Samsung within 1. Jeong Hyeon-Sik came to the plate with 1 out and 2 runners on base but hit into a double play to end the game. Nexen starter Moon Sung-Hyun got the win and closer Son Seung-Lak earned his 30th save of the season. The Loss went to Samsung's Jang Won-Sam.

KIA 7 - LG 4, Gunsan [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

LG held the lead with a score of 5-2 late in the game, but KIA came through with a huge 5-run 8th inning for the win. The Tigers were lead by DH Sin Jong-Kil who went 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 1 run scored and catcher Cha Il-Mok who went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. KIA's new American pitcher Duane Below made his first relief appearance after 2 shaky starts. He pitched 2 perfect innings and earned his first KBO win. The loss went to LG reliever Lee Sang-Ryeol.

NC 6 - Lotte 6, Busan [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

NC was up 6-3, but Lotte managed to score 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th, including back-to-back doubles from Jeong Hoon and Son Ah-Seop to send the game to extra innings. Neither team managed to score in the extra frames and the game ended in a 6-6 tie.
