LG 5 - Doosan 4, Seoul (Jamsil)

A sellout crowd showed up in Jamsil to see the final game of the series between the Twins and the Bears. The fans were treated to a close game, with the score tied at 4-4 after 7 innings of play. The game winner would come in the bottom of the 8th on a solo homerun by LG first baseman Kim Yong-Ui. Kim is not known as a power hitter. It was his first homerun of the season and just the third of his career. He ended the day at 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored on a single and a triple in addition to the homerun. Doosan starter Dustin Nippert pitched 7 innings giving up 8 hits and 4 runs, but it was reliever Im Tae-Hoon who took the loss. LG won the series 2 games to 1, and also moved up to 4th place, ahead of Doosan in the league standings.

Lotte 13 - KIA 3, Busan

Lotte put the hurt on KIA today. Lotte scored in 5 of the 8 innings they came to bat, including a big 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd. Lotte starter Chris Oxspring pitched 6 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs while striking out 3 batters. Oxspring earned his 7th win of the season, which puts him tied for the league lead with Samsung's Bae Young-Soo. Henry Sosa only lasted 3 2/3 innings for the Tigers, earning the loss. Lotte won the series 2-1 and now sits at 3rd in the league standings. The Giants will play the 4th place LG Twins over the weekend in Seoul.

NC 7 - SK 4, Changwon

The Dinos went ahead early, leading 5-0 after 6 innings. SK would attempt a comeback late in the game, but it was too little too late. NC starter Charlie Shirek pitched 7 innings, giving up 8 hits and 1 run to earn the win. On the other side, Jo-Jo Reyes gave up 8 hits and 5 runs in 5 innings to take the loss for SK. NC won the series 2-1. The Dinos will take the weekend off, while SK will face Hanwha at home in Incheon.

Nexen 15 - Samsung 7, Seoul (Mokdong)

A sellout crowd in Mokdong for a game that was actually close for the most part, but it got out of control in the late innings. The score was tied at 5-5 heading into the 7th inning. Samsung's Choi Hyeong-Woo hit a 2-run homerun in the top of the 7th to put the Lions ahead 7-5. The lead would not last long though, as the Heroes scored 6 runs in the bottom half of the inning. They would go on to score 4 more in the 8th to make the final score 15-7. Nexen starter Kang Yoon-Koo lasted just 4 1/3 innings, and managed to tie a rather dubious record. Kang walked 6 batters in the top of the 5th inning, the most walks given up by a single pitcher in a single inning in KBO history. Samsung scored 3 runs in the inning without recording a single hit. It was a long game that saw a total of 25 hits and 20 walks between the two teams, while 10 different pitchers saw action. Reliever Lee Jeong-Hun earned the win for the Heroes, while Cha Woo-Chan took the loss for Samsung. The series ends with Nexen winning 2 games and 1 game ending in a tie. In doing so, Nexen was able to build a 2 game lead ahead of Samsung at the top of the league.
