Thursday KBO Game Highlights (2013/06/20)

Lotte 4 - Doosan 2, Seoul (Jamsil) [Box Score]

Doosan held the lead for the majority of the game, ahead 2-0 after 7 innings. Lotte tied up the game at 2-2 in a top of the 8th that included 2 walks and 3 singles. The score remained tied heading into extra innings. Doosan had a few chances to win, including loading the bases in the bottom of the 10th, but the failed to put any runs on the board. Lotte would score 2 runs in the top of the 11th with RBIs coming from Park Jun-Seo and Kang Min-Ho. Doosan starter Yu Heui-Kwan pitched 7 scoreless innings, but it was the bullpen that let the game get away, with the loss going to reliever Oh Hyoun-Taek. Chris Oxspring pitched 6 1/3 innings for Lotte, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs. The win went to Kim Seung-Hwae and Kim Sung-Bae picked up the save. Lotte swept the rain-shortened series, and Doosan continues to struggle, having now lost 8 of their last 10 games. 

NC 4 - LG 3, Changwon [Box Score]

LG was up 3-2 after 7 innings, but the Dinos showed up late in the game to pull out the win. In the bottom of the 8th, pinch hitter Kwon Hee-Dong hit an RBI double to tie the game at 3-3. LG relief pitcher Lee Sang-Ryeol gave the game away in the bottom of the 9th, walking 3 consecutive batters to load the bases with no outs. Lee was replaced with Lim Jeong-Woo, who threw only one pitch, which was hit into left field by NC designated hitter Lee Ho-Jun to bring home the winning run. The win went to NC reliever Lim Chang-Min who pitched 2 perfect innings, not allowing a single LG batter on base.

Samsung 5 - SK 2, Incheon [Box Score]

SK scored both of their runs early, but the rest of the game was all Samsung. The Lions scored 4 runs in the top of the 3rd, including Lee Seung-Yeop's record-breaking 3-run homerun, plus an RBI single from DH Choi Hyeong-Woo. The score was 4-2 at the end of the 3rd inning, and the Wyverns would not score for the rest of the game. Samsung added one more with a solo homerun by  Kim Tae-Wan in the top of the 8th to give us the final score of 5-2. Aneury Rodriguez was the winning pitcher for Samsung, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs in 6 innings. The two teams split the series, and each will face a hot team at home over the weekend. Samsung will host LG in Daegu, and Lotte will visit Incheon to play SK.

KIA 6 - Hanwha 3, Daejeon [Box Score]

Another loss for Hanwha, but at least they made this one a little interesting. The Eagles held the lead at 3-2 after 6 innings, but KIA came through late to secure the win. KIA right fielder Na Ji-Wan hit a 3-run homerun in the top of the 7th to give the Tigers the lead.  One more run would score on an RBI single from second baseman An Chi-Hong in the top of the 8th. The final score was 6-3. KIA's Yoon Suk-Min had a mediocre start, giving up 6 hits and 3 earned runs in 5 innings. The bullpen kept the Tigers in the game, giving up a combined total of 2 hits and zero walks in 4 innings. The save went to Anthony Lerew.
