Tuesday KBO Game Highlights (2013/07/02)

NC 2 - Nexen 0, Changwon [Box Score]

The game remained tied at 0-0 until the bottom of the 8th inning when NC finally scored with back to back solo homeruns from Mo Chang-Min and Na Sung-BumCharlie Shirek pitched 8 scoreless innings for the Dinos to earn his 5th win of the season, while Lee Min-Ho pitched a perfect 9th, including 2 strikeouts, to pick up the save. Not much to say about Nexen tonight. The Heroes finished the game with 6 hits, all singles, and they never got more than one hit in an inning.

Mo Chang-Min's 8th inning solo homerun

Na Sung-Bum follows Mo with another homerun

Samsung 6 - Lotte 4, Busan [Box Score]

An interesting foreign pitcher matchup in Busan tonight. Chrix Oxspring started the season with 3 straight losses for Lotte, but has improved significantly and now stands with a 7-3 record on the season. Samsung's Rick VandenHurk started the season well, but came into tonight's game with 3 straight losses. The 2 pitchers finished the game with nearly identical stat lines, with Vandenhurk going 5 1/3 innings allowing 4 hits 2 walks and 3 earned runs. Oxspring went 5 1/3 and allowed 4 hits, 3 walks, and 3 earned runs. With the game tied 4-4 after 6 innings, neither would earn a decision. Samsung scored the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th on an RBI single by Lee Seung-Yeop and added an insurance run in the top of the 9th. Lotte managed only 2 hits in the final 3 innings and was unable to comeback.

KIA 8 - SK 2, Incheon [Box Score]

A disappointing start from SK's Chris Seddon who tonight allowed 9 hits, 3 walks, and 5 earned runs in 6 innings to earn himself the L and giving the Tigers an early 5-0 lead. SK scored a couple of late runs, but they weren't able to dig themselves out of the hole. The winning pitcher was Kim Jin-Woo who pitched 7 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs. Offensively KIA was lead by first baseman Kim Joo-Hyeong who went 3 for 5 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored.

Hanwha - LG, Seoul (Jamsil) Rained Out

Rain in Seoul prevented this game from starting as scheduled. The good news for LG: after Nexen's loss tonight they've moved up to 2nd place in the league standings.
