Wednesday KBO Game Highlights (2014/03/12)

Rainy weather accross much of Korea prevented all except one game from finishing today. Rainouts during the pre-season will not be made up.

KIA 6 - Nexen 1, Seoul (Mokdong) [Box Score] [Video Highlights]

KIA designated hitter Na Ji-Wan hit a 2-RBI double in the top of the 1st driving in two new teammates, Lee Dae-Hyung and Brett Pill. Leadoff man and center fielder Lee, nicknamed "Supersonic", joined the team as a free agent after spending the past 11 seasons with the LG Twins. American first baseman Pill is a new addition following the KBO rule changes allowing 3 foreign players per team. Pill would go on to finish the game going 3 for 4 with 3 singles, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored. Tiger fans will be waiting to see if these newcomers might help the team turn things around after a very disappointing season last year. Those 1st inning runs would prove to be all that the Tigers needed today, as Nexen bats were very quiet, managing just 3 hits and 1 run for the game, earning their first loss of the pre-season. KIA starter Yang Hyeon-Jong got the win, leaving the game after 4 no-hit innings. Nexen starter Brandon Knight had a rough outing in his first start of the pre-season, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs in 4 innings for the loss.

Doosan 6 - Lotte 0, Gimhae - Called in top of 3rd inning due to rain.

Rain prevented this game from finishing, and that may have been just fine with the Lotte Giants and Shane Youman. Youman had a disastrous start, giving up 10 hits and 6 runs in the first 2 innings.

LG 0 - NC 0, Masan - Called in bottom of 2nd inning due to rain.

This game didn't last long either. Neither team managed to score before the umpires shut it down.

SK - Samsung, Daegu - Rained out.
